Rotovating v Manual Digging

The main advantages of rotovating are time, labour, finer tilth and the ability to start work on the plot within hours of completion. Also you will not be visiting the doctors with a bad back on a Monday morning!

Manual digging is suitable for double digging and/or weed extraction in small and awkward areas but the rotovator can dig down to 12" and a minimum width of 12" and ridging can be achieved easily with the machine.

What We Do

1. Rotovating, Cultivating & Tilling - BH Postcode Area

Rotovating, cultivating and tilling is the primary work we undertake, from the smallest bed to full size allotments. We rotovate all plots in 2 directions leaving either a ridged or raked flat surface depending on whether plot is for vegetables or bedding , shrubs, turfing or seeding.

before and after rotovating

2. Lawns and Borders

As well as rotovating, cultivating and tilling we also offer a mowing service. This includes edge trimming, border and path weeding, shrub pruning, planting out (customers plants) and a general tidy up all year round

What We Do Not Do

Prices are worked out by quote and a fixed price for the work

We prefer this method rather than an hourly charge as both parties know where they stand and I can have a cuppa in my time rather than yours!

As a rough guide a 250 sq yard allotment previously worked would be approx 45 whereas an unworked plot may be approx 65 depending on amount of top clearance required (turf, brambles etc)

Minimum price is 20

Price includes quote visit, transportation, and fuel - no extras

Quote and advice is free and no obligation involved within the BH postal code area i.e Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch in Dorset.

About Me

My interest in gardening started over 50 yrs ago when, aged 10, I took some rose prunings from my father who said they would not grow but they did the following year ! Since then I have created 3 gardens from scratch and developed a 2 acre 100 yr old plot on a former vicarage.

Some 22 yrs ago I started a garden sundry company exhibiting at all the major flower shows (Chelsea, Hampton Court, Malvern, Harrogate, Gardeners World, Southport, Shrewsbury etc) before selling up in 2003 and moving into hospitality whilst maintaining my lifelong interest in horticulture. In 2005 I was asked to rotovate an orchard by a friend who knew I had one and from this was subsequently asked to do an allotment and so the business grew mostly by recommendation.
